Ekaterina Gradaleva, Chair
Samara State Technical University
Ekaterina Gradaleva is an Associate Professor at Samara State Technical University. She is a graduate of Samara State University with a Doctorate in Germanic Languages. At present, she lectures EFL and Business English at the Department of Linguistics, Cross-Cultural Communication and Russian as a Foreign Language, and serves as a scientific mentor supervising student research in Linguistics and Business Studies. Sinсe 2012, Ekaterina has chaired a number of scientific student conferences and English language contests. With research interests in Cultural Studies, Professional Communication, and Project-Based Learning, Ekaterina co-chairs the International Conference Project, a Global Tele-Collaborative Initiative launched initially in 2017 in collaboration with Notre Dame College, Ohio, USA. Ekaterina is an author of 44 scientific articles and 8 textbooks.
Maria Houston, Invited Chair, Workshop Facilitator

Maria Houston has a number of academic degrees, among which are a Doctorate in Rhetoric and TESOL (IUP, USA) and a Master’s in Adult Education and Instructional Design (IUP, USA). A graduate of Samara State University, Department of Philology, Maria started as a Technical Interpreter (cardiology and metallurgy). She’s worked across cultures and languages for her entire professional career: as an Interpreter, Training Specialist with Alcoa Inc., Director of Berlitz in Cleveland, OH, and a Professor in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas. Maria currently teaches courses in Digital Writing and is in progress of designing a Business Course with a focus on professional communication and cultural intelligence. She has an extensive record of publications in Second Language Literacy, Transnational Pedagogy, Collaborative Programming and Transnational Digital Rhetoric and Communications.

Yevgeny Suslin, Invited Speaker/Global Industry Leader

Yevgeny is Tarkett's WCM ("World Class Manufacturing") Director in Eastern Europe. Tarkett is the worldwide flooring production producer and number 1 in PVC flooring industry. WCM means World Class Manufacturing. Upon graduating from Samara State Aerospace University with Engineering Degree of Aircraft Engines in 2004, Yevgeny started his career in production as Industrial Engineer at PES/SCC (Delphi) Samara where he commenced to learn Lean Approach and got his Green belt Six Sigma after finishing cost reduction project. In 2005 Yevgeny joint Alcoa (Metallurgical company), he was trained and coached for 6 month in USA and started from scratch to build Alcoa Business System in Extrusions of Alcoa Samara plant. In 2008 Yevgeny launched Center of Excellence for Alcoa Russia where all white collars got deep training and practice sessions in order to speed up developing of Lean culture at the field. Since 2011 he has been working for Tarkett as Central leader for Focused Improvement pillar with worldwide responsibility for more than 30 plants.
Alsu Gilmetdinova, Invited speaker/ Workshop facilitator
KNRTU-KAI Kazan
Alsu Gilmetdinova is the Russian co-director of the German-Russian Institute of Advanced Technologies (GRIAT) at Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N.Tupolev-KAI (Kazan, Russia). Before returning to Kazan in 2015 Alsu completed her PhD in Literacy and Language Education at Purdue University (West Lafayette, USA) and MSc degree in English Education at Montana State University (Bozeman, USA). Her interests are threefold: leadership, teaching English and research on multilingual education. Prior to her current administrative position, Alsu was the Head of International Affairs Office (KNRTU-KAI, Kazan), EF Online teacher (Education First), Graduate teaching assistant (Bozeman, West Lafayette), College writing tutor (Bozeman), English and Spanish language Interpreter (Kazan). She has 12 years of experience teaching English as a first, second and foreign language in Russia, USA and globally (online). As a scholar, Alsu Gilmetdinova has published in Q1 Scopus journals (5 peer-reviewed articles and 10 book chapters), made over 70 international presentations in the USA, Canada, UAE, Germany, China, Italy, France, Russia. The 2019 winner of the Potanin Foundation Grant for a new Master course in “Developing Leadership Potential of Engineers: self-growth, career opportunities and mentoring”, she is currently interested in supporting young generations of Russian and international students to grow their professional and soft skills which, besides their hard skills, are paramount for their success in the future.

Paul Chownyk, Moderator of Students' Presentations
"Ya Polyglot", A Language School
With a diverse career in ELT spanning almost 13 years, Paul Chownyk, a native of Canada, has had the pleasure of educating hundreds of Samara's students, young and old, in private and public schools, as well as a brief gig at Samara State University. He is currently in charge of the International Exam project for the private language school, Ya Polyglot. Currently, he is examining new and forgotten modalities in language teaching methodology, towards an hypothesis of analyzing common factors and discovering a way to integrate them. His eagerness to continually improve and educate himself is one aspect he strives to pass on to his learners - one should never think you've already learned all you need to know.
